2016 Election Information
Dates and Polling Places
The General Election is November 8, 2016.
Polls will be open between 7:00 am - 8:00 pm. The City is divided into two precincts with two different polling places. Where you vote depends on which side of County Road 19 you live on. If you live west of CR 19, you vote in the activity center at the STMA High School located at 5800 Jamison Avenue NE. If you live east of CR 19, you vote in the gymnasium of the STMA Middle School East located at 4862 Naber Avenue NE.
This year there are three positions on the City Council up for election: one Mayor and two Council Members. There are two candidates running for Mayor (Kevin Kasel and Nadine Schoen) and six candidates running for City Council (Richard (Brownie) Brown, David Dayon, Heather Janiski, Matthew Kammann, Layne Roschen, and Keith Wettschreck). If the candidate has submitted information about themselves and their filing state, you can click their name to see the information.
If you have recently moved, changed your name, or have not voted in the last four years, you may want to pre-register to save yourself time on Election Day. Pre-registration forms are available at City Hall and can be picked up during normal office hours. Forms must be received by October 18th in order for the pre-registration to be effective for the November election.
Absentee ballots are available at City Hall. You can vote at City Hall during normal office hours until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7th. City Hall will also be open for extended hours on Saturday, November 5, 2016, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm for voting. If you'd like to have a ballot mailed to you, you can apply for it online or fax/email/mail an application to City Hall.
